Candidate Press Releases

This does not refer to Press Releases regarding the PPCs. Candidate Press Releases should be added and categorized below. If an event is deemed by consensus not to be worth writing about after all, or its time has passed it will simply be removed from this section and forgotten about. If you pick a release to work on, please move it down to the section below and link in the PiratenPad.

ACTA negotiation draft text officially released Pad draft link

Need some sort of statement about what ACTA will mean + probably some detailed analysis of the document which i think Duke is the best man for, after which we can get some candidate quotes on bad areas Duke identifies, although we should all help with this. ~ MC 14:01, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

PPI officially founded Pad draft link

Tories Tech Manifesto

Tories released a technology manifesto. We should look at it in detail and comment on every possible omission, etc. its probably chock full of disingenuous shit we can pick apart.

ISP pokes loopholes in the draft provisions of the DEA

As title, duke has a good handle on this already see http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=1633564&cid=32011856. They have also already implemented the loopholes. This points out the failings of the terminology used throughout the debate by MPs who obviously dont know what they were talking about, and just proves that any 'technical measures' taken against people on the internet turn out to be ultimately futile. And even if these loopholes are very good themselvs, it points out the strength of feeling and contempt for the bad law, even from respectable ISP companies etc. Also see here http://aaisp.net.uk/legal-cp.html and http://aaisp.net.uk/dea.html#loopholes ~ MC 11:53, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

HMRC to gain new powers to open mail at will

Obviously pretty bad, and ironic seeing as we used to say you wouldn't have people opening your post to illustrate a point about the DEA.....things are going downhill fast. ~ MC 02:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Film classification takes to the web

Some retard ISP doing '12A' etc rating for websites. Short non ragey statement perhaps about how it goes against the spirit of the internet and shitty censorship etc. Statement about how using the threat of child danger online is a shitty excuse for a marketing gimmick if were feeling edgy. ~ MC 16:19, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Something about extending copyright length on the sly from Europe?

I dont quite understand this yet but it sounds bad enough :( ~ MC 11:53, 28 April 2010 (UTC)
