Marriage

Amendment of Civil Liberties Bill

Hello all,

While on my emails and surfing the web I saw an email about future amendments to Civil Partnership Act.

The current act allows couples of same-sex to form a Civil Partnership and have similar legal status as married, although since 2013 marriage is also available for same-sex couples too.

The new amendment to be debated on 2nd February will allow opportunities to let opposite-sex couples to also form Civil Partnerships.  Although it may not seem an issue since marriage already exists, some people still prefer to idea of Civil Partnership as it does not have such historic significance and context and allow all couples to enjoy Civil Partnership! We're one of the countries still yet to do it.

How can you help? You can write to your MP and get them to vote on the bill.
You can read a bit more in depth from here and other ways to support: http://equalcivilpartnerships.org.uk/

Happy Pirating!

Right to marriage regardless of sexuality

All of the UK's citizens should have an equal right to marriage. The implementation of truly equal marriage must not be further delayed or de-prioritised. Equal marriage must mean exactly that. The law must be changed to give full equality to all couples regardless of gender.
