A Vision For Europe - Loz Kaye Joins Swedish Pirate Party EU campaign launch

The Pirate Party's Loz Kaye will be speaking at the launch of the Swedish Pirate Party's (piratpartiet) campaign for the May 2014 European Parliamentary Elections.  Speaking in Stockholm at 11:30 CET, he will be joined by Swedish party leader Anna Troberg and MEPs Christian Engström and Amelia Andersdotter.

PiratPartiet was founded in 2006 and its early successes and political aims inspired the rise of Pirate Parties with similar goals in Europe and around the world, as well as the formation of an international Pirate movement.

Pirate Party UK Leader Loz Kaye said:

"I'm really happy to be invited to speak at the launch of the Swedish Pirate Party's European election campaign. It's a chance to say thanks for how they have inspired our movement.

The European elections are critically important to us, that couldn't be clearer in the week when we delivered another victory in the European Parliament this time protecting the principle of net neutrality. That's because of the work of MEPs like Amelia Andersdotter."

"I'll be setting out our vision for a positive vision for Europe:

Everyone else in politics is driven by a fear of the future. The nationalists are afraid of foreigners.  The social democrats and centre-right are afraid that even one step from their narrow consensus society will bring down the economy.

We are not afraid. We will build the future that we want if we are right at the heart of politics.  That's why we're asking voters to join us. I see a future where everyone is free to share the riches of the information revolution. A future where education is a way of being. A future where we are investing and embracing in technology. A future where freedom of movement is celebrated not just because of the benefits it brings to the economy but because of the benefits it brings to society, too. I want to see a continent that is truly founded on civil liberties and personal freedom. We can deliver on that.

I wish PiratPartiet and all of the European Pirates, including our own candidates in the UK, success in their campaigns to put more Pirates in the European Parliament."

Pirate Party Sweden Leader Anna Troberg said:

"The Pirate Party has delivered in Brussels during this parliament. Now it's up to us to communicate that to the voters, which can be a challenge when the media is not so aware of the reality of EU politics.

The Pirate Party is standing in this election to reform the EU in a more democratic and transparent direction, to stop mass surveillance hysteria, to reform copyright and protect minority rights."
